A new court filing says NASCAR rejected Front Row Motorsports’ agreement to purchase a charter from Stewart-Haas Racing unless the team and 23XI Racing dropped their federal antitrust lawsuit against the stock car series.

Front Row Motorsports, one of two teams suing NASCAR in federal court, accused the stock car series of rejecting the planned purchase of a valuable charter unless the lawsuit was dropped.

"Specifically, NASCAR informed us that it would not approve the (charter) transfer unless we agreed to drop our current antitrust lawsuit against them," Jerry Freeze, general manager of Front Row Racing,

NASCAR announced new practice and qualifying procedures for all three national series going into the 2025 season, including for the Daytona 500.

NASCAR officials released updated practice and qualifying procedures for the 2025 season on Thursday, expanding practice time and moving to simplify starting lineup rules across its three national series.

According to journalist and veteran Motor Racing Network announcer Pete Pistone, the reduction in practice over the last several years isn’t necessarily a bad thing. In fact, he suggests it’s just the opposite.
