The accident happened on the evening of June 16 while a truck was moving the tank from the parade staging area to a Maryland railyard.
In preparation for the event, Army engineers installed steel plates in 13 locations along the parade route to protect roads where they would be most vulnerable.
Coinciding with Trump's 79th birthday, the parade will feature tanks, bands and thousands of troops in honor of the Army’s 250th anniversary celebration.
"It's really fun, and honestly nerve-wracking," said Jonas Chu, an armored vehicle driver who will appear in the Army's 250th anniversary parade.
