The J/22 is the choice of one-design fleets and institutional sailing programs worldwide, because she has proven to be a great value and a favorite among juniors and adults alike. The J/22 at 1800 lbs. can be towed behind an SUV and be launched on the local yacht club hoist.

Houston Yacht Club is a casual, comfortable, social and recreational private club where a community of families and individuals enjoy their own special resort on the waterfront of Galveston Bay.

In 1815, “The Yacht Club” was formed in England; it later became the Royal Yacht Squadron. There is controversy about the first yacht club to be formed in the United States.

The mission of the Houston Yacht Club Youth Program, also known as the Ragnots, is to develop knowledgeable youth sailors, while instilling in them a love for the sport of sailing, that will serve as a foundation for the future of our club and our sport.

Houston Yacht Club offers many ways to enjoy getting out on the water! No matter what kind of watercraft you have, we can help you enjoy it to the fullest. No boat? No problem! There is a Charter Fleet with several sail boats available to rent on a half day or full day basis.

Come Have Fun This Summer! We offer classes for first-time beginners, returning sailors, and advanced racers. Ages are 6 to 18. You do not need to be a Member of the Houston Yacht Club to attend summer camp (except the Ragnot Overnight Camp starting on June 10th). Camps run Tuesday through Saturday 9am to 5:30pm.
