Dale Earnhardt was involved in a crash during a multi-car battle for the lead with 12 laps to go, in which his Chevrolet bounced off the wall coming off of Turn 2. Earnhardt came across Dale Jarrett, who ran into the back of the #3; Earnhardt spun and flipped into the outside wall, collecting Ernie Irvan in the process.
